Earlier this autumn, our founder was invited to Copenhagen Health Week
We were fortunate to host a wellness workshop at Soho House Copenhagen on The Algorithms of Life.
We explored the benefits of implementing a daily routine with journaling, using gratitude and self-reflection as the foundation.
Our founder shared her own journey—from being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease at 21 to healing through an anti-inflammatory lifestyle. Her discovery of the connection between the body, mind, spirit, and the power of thoughts became the catalyst that changed everything.
The Thing About Journaling
It’s not about journaling. It’s about how a daily journaling practice can serve what’s most important in your life.
Whether that’s lowering stress, increasing mental wellbeing, enhancing focus and motivation, or improving your sleep—think about what this could lead to for you. How could lower stress improve your relationships? How could enhanced focus increase your chances of reaching your goals?
Journaling can help with setting and reaching a goal, starting a new habit, or changing the outlook of your life.
How Journaling Meets You Where You Are
As with everything in life, it will meet you where you’re at and serve as a tool to take you where you want to be. It helps you become more of who you want to be by reconnecting with who you truly are.
It’s seldom that we don’t know what would benefit us, but rather that we don’t embody that knowledge. Closing the gap between knowing and being is something we achieve through our daily routines.
This is where your journaling practice can serve as the foundation. Remember: it takes 66 days to make something a habit. This is why The Algorithms of Life Journal is designed for 66 days.
How Do We Make Journaling Effortless and Attractive?
Here are three simple ways to start journaling:
-
Schedule it in your calendar at the same time every day.
Preferably first thing in the morning, so it can positively influence your entire day. Shift scrolling to journaling and watch how your life shifts.
-
Combine it with an existing habit.
For example, pair it with your morning coffee, after a workout, or before bed (if you journal in the evening).
-
Start small.
We simply need to start. Make it simple. Let it be a three-minute practice. Doing it is good enough to get started.
One Simple Question to Answer Daily:
What can you be grateful for today?
We say “can” to remind you that gratitude is a choice. There’s always something to be grateful for, even on the toughest days.
Use the power of “I am” when you write three answers to this question, affirming to yourself that you embody those qualities.
And the most important part? Take a moment to actually feel it. This is a practice—let it take time.
Consistency is Key
