The modern foundation no make-up makes up for?

The foundation to women's wellbeing

In today’s world, where women are disproportionately affected by autoimmune diseases, we are beginning to look more deeply into the true foundations of our wellbeing — rather than only the “foundation” we apply to our skin. This does not mean abandoning our love for beauty, make-up, and self-care, but rather recognizing that nothing can compensate for poor health. At the same time, we are gaining a greater understanding of the gut-brain connection, and how it shapes our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing — and vice versa.

True beauty is closely tied to how we feel, and that feeling begins within.

This summer, our founder Ida Carleborn and the DailyGarboos team were invited to the launch of LongHER at the renowned Casa Cipriani in New York City. LongHER, a female-founded and female-led community, is dedicated to women’s biology and the pillars of longevity.

Ida reflects:

“I often ask people, Would you take this if it was a pill? Something that, according to Harvard Business Review, can reduce stress, prevent sick leave, improve mental wellbeing and focus, and enhance the quality of your sleep?

Most people would answer yes. Yet when it is not a pill, but one of the essential pillars that builds the foundation for all other areas of life, the question becomes not if you are willing to, but will you?

This is what research shows a simple practice of daily journaling and gratitude can do. It was the number one tool that helped me heal an autoimmune disease 11 years ago, and it has continued to sustain and strengthen my daily rituals every day since.”

The launch event, led by Peloton trainer and fitness profile Kristin McGee, covered all pillars for women’s longevity — from workouts with Kira Stokes to panel conversations with experts like Michelle Shapiro, Kristin McGee, Kira Stokes, Dr. Bojana, and Dr. Ellen Vora.

We hosted a session on the tools from The Algorithms of Life journal, designed to help women experience how simple — yet profoundly effective — small daily choices can be. Our mission is to show that improving longevity does not need to be complicated. It can be both accessible and inspiring, one step at a time.

We ended the evening with new beginnings, setting the foundation through a powerful practice of intention. Because when we set a clear intention, we ensure it drives our decisions — instead of being driven into decisions by stress.

But above all, it means not abandoning ourselves. The true self that can only be heard when we take the time to go within. To make room for wellbeing on a daily basis, because we know that nothing can make up for poor health.
